Summary
We are seeking a Senior Data - Python Engineer to lead the development, maintenance, and scale of our AWS-native data pipelines and data-onboarding platform. In this role, you will play a critical part in reducing operational risk by taking ownership of the ingestion pipelines that onboard complex client datasets. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will design robust cloud architectures, troubleshoot production workflows, and integrate new client data sources. This position is ideal for an experienced data engineer who thrives in self-directed environments and can immediately impact production stability.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
Professional Experience
5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Python and data engineering.
Proven track record of designing, building, and extending AWS-native data ingestion and onboarding pipelines.
Deep experience independently troubleshooting complex, high-volume production data workflows.
Experience onboarding new client data sources and managing complex data-transformation schemas.
Key Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and extend scalable, reliable, AWS-native data pipelines to facilitate efficient client data onboarding.
Take full ownership of new client data integrations, translating varied data structures into standardized platform formats.
Provide robust production support, monitoring active pipelines, executing root-cause analyses, and deploying timely fixes to guarantee high availability.
Collaborate with backend engineers to support legacy pipeline components and ensure consistent data flow across environments.
Document system configurations, pipeline architectures, mapping schemas, and runbooks to facilitate team alignment.
Support essential compliance reporting and metadata tracking workflows.
Required Technical Skills
Strong experience in several of the following areas:
Backend & Scripting: Strong hands-on proficiency in Python development.
Cloud Architecture: Deep expertise across AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, ECS, Step Functions, CloudWatch).
Data Engineering: Designing and implementing robust ETL/ELT pipelines, data schemas, data transformation logic, and client onboarding workflows.
Database & Query Tuning: High comfort level writing and optimizing complex SQL queries across relational and NoSQL databases.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Java backend services to assist with cross-platform troubleshooting.
Practical experience leveraging agentic AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex) to speed up code comprehension and troubleshooting.
Prior background in the financial services, fintech, or investment management domains.
Soft Skills
Advanced English proficiency with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Extreme autonomy, self-direction, and a proven ability to understand unfamiliar, complex systems quickly.
Exceptional diagnostic and systematic troubleshooting capabilities.
A strong collaborative spirit, with the flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities in a small, agile team.
