Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Java Software Engineer to join the engineering team for a high-volume Rate Shopping Application. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java development, experience working with scalable enterprise applications, and the ability to contribute directly to the design, development, production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the platform. You should be a proactive problem solver with strong technical skills, capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive system success.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.

Professional Experience

• 6 years of professional software development experience.

• Strong, hands-on experience in production-level Java backend development.

• Proven experience working on complex, enterprise-scale applications.

• Extensive background in backend application development, query performance optimization, and live production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain a high-volume, distributed Rate Shopping platform.

• Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions primarily using Java.

• Provide comprehensive production support by monitoring applications, troubleshooting active production issues, performing detailed root cause analysis, and implementing timely fixes to ensure high system availability and reliability.

• Contribute directly to performance optimization, scalability architectural guardrails, and overall reliability improvements.

• Analyze and resolve complex production incidents with a strict focus on application stability and resilience.

• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and Business teams to deliver highly integrated, high-quality features.

• Participate actively in technical discussions, team code reviews, and core system design activities.

• Ensure optimal application performance, deep database optimization, and absolute adherence to engineering best practices.

• Contribute to continuous platform improvement initiatives and ongoing technical enhancements.

Required Technical Skills

Strong experience in several of the following areas:

• Core Backend Development: Mastery of Java development and scalable enterprise application frameworks.

• Production Support & Troubleshooting: Demonstrated experience monitoring applications, performing root cause analysis, and debugging complex live infrastructure issues.

• Performance & Data Tuning: Expertise in application performance engineering, code profiling, and database optimization techniques.

• Collaborative Engineering: Proficiency navigating version control systems, participating in comprehensive code reviews, and aligning with modern Agile delivery workflows.

Nice to Have

• Practical knowledge or development exposure to Perl is considered a strong added advantage.

• Familiarity with cross-functional deployment ecosystems, containerization, or automated DevOps pipelines.

• Advanced English proficiency with strong written and verbal technical communication skills.

• A proactive problem-solving mindset with excellent analytical and diagnostic capabilities.

• High level of autonomy and the capacity to take full technical ownership while working independently.
