Summary
We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Ruby Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain mission-critical accounting features for a legal-tech SaaS platform. In this role, you will take true end-to-end ownership of your work, proposing solutions rather than asking for permission, and driving features through development, testing, deployment, and production verification. Because this domain involves financial data, correctness and testing discipline are not optional. You will champion robust automated testing—focusing on unit and integration tests—and leverage AI-assisted development tools with a rigorous approach to code quality. Operating with high autonomy, you will optimize high-traffic Rails applications, develop modern Ember.js interfaces, and ensure the flawless execution of financial transactions.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
Professional Experience
5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and maintaining full-stack web applications.
3+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience developing backend services with Ruby on Rails.
Proven experience developing interactive frontend interfaces using Ember.js (highly preferred) or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
Demonstrated track record of owning tickets end-to-end, taking code from local development all the way to production monitoring.
Experience handling financial data, requiring strict money correctness (decimals, rounding, currency) and the idempotency of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain secure, high-traffic accounting features using Ruby on Rails and Ember.js.
Own the full delivery lifecycle by proposing technical solutions, writing code, deploying to production, and verifying success in the live environment.
Champion automated testing by writing robust unit and integration tests, moving away from slow UI-heavy test suites, and enforcing unit tests as a strict PR gate.
Utilize AI-assisted coding tools daily while rigorously reviewing generated code to ensure it meets strict team quality and security standards.
Optimize high-traffic Rails applications, specifically identifying and resolving ActiveRecord bottlenecks.
Detect and diagnose production issues rapidly using modern observability practices, including logs, traces, and metrics.
Conduct security audits on user-uploaded data, such as CSV imports, and leverage CI/CD pipelines for automated security scanning and schema checks.
Required Technical Skills
Strong experience in several of the following areas:
Backend Development: Deep expertise in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and ActiveRecord performance optimization.
Frontend Development: Hands-on experience with Ember.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
Testing & Quality: Test-Driven Development (TDD), RSpec, and building reliable unit/integration tests for financial workflows.
Financial Data Logic: Implementation of money correctness, idempotency, and secure transaction handling.
DevOps & Observability: CI/CD orchestration, production monitoring, distributed tracing, and log analysis.
AI Tools: Practical integration of AI coding assistants with strict peer-review and validation practices.
Nice to Have
Experience working within legal-tech, FinTech, or highly regulated SaaS domains.
Familiarity with replacing legacy UI-heavy test suites with optimized unit and integration testing frameworks.
Knowledge of database performance optimization techniques (caching, query optimization, indexing).
Soft Skills
Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
High level of technical ownership and autonomy, with a mindset to propose solutions rather than wait for direction.
Meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to data accuracy and application correctness.
Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers without negatively impacting team delivery velocity.
